Diez Vistas Hike at Buntzen Lake on Sun, Mar 31st (9am-6pm). Meetup at Lougheed Stn. Hike Rating C3


Join Mokuyokai for the first hike of 2013!

Diez Vistas literally means 10 viewpoints. Come see them all on Sunday, March 31st! Be prepared for a long hike that is steep at first but otherwise flat and very rewarding hike! Besides the viewpoints we'll see lush forest, marshland and will stop at a beach on beautiful Buntzen Lake. RSVP information is below and drivers are always needed!

Hike Details
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard. There is a steep section near the beginning and then it flattens out. Please check out the hike details before confirming your rsvp.
Elevation gain: 460 meters
Time: 6-7 hours
Length: 15km

Time & Date
When: Sunday, March 31st. 9am – 6pm (approximately)
Where: Diez Vistas at Buntzen Lake
Meetup Time:  9:00am (sharp)
Meetup Location: Lougheed Skytrain Station Parking lot
Maximum # of participants: 15
Hike Cancellation policy: if the forecast calls for heavy rain, Mokuyokai will cancel the hike the night before. If you have to cancel, please try to give 48hours notice. Last minute cancellations are understandable, but they create challenges for carpooling.
Cost: Free for members; $5 for non-members. All participants must give their driver some gas money.

What to bring
*Proper* footwear (as the trail is muddy), lunch, gloves, hat, extra snacks, camera, min 1L water, warm jacket/rain gear, warm sweater, cash. Mokuyokai reserves the right to turn away unprepared participants. We are NOT stopping for food on the way, so please come prepared.

Car Pooling
We will arrange car-pooling from the Lougheed Skytrain Parking Station lot. It works on a first come, first serve basis (i.e., if someone RSVPs and can drive 3 people, the first three people who signed up get a lift.) Drivers are usually in short supply, so if you can drive, it is appreciated. Mokuyokai Members get preference.
