Hike around Killarney Lake at Bowen Island on Sunday, July 17th

Only a short 20 minutes ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay,Bowen Island is a convenient and great getaway destination for many Vancouver residents.  Bowen Island offers various activities from hiking in the trail to exploring the unique island community.  On Sunday July 17th, Mokuyokai will head to Bowen Island where we will hike around Killarney Lake, which is known for it's quiet and scenic trail. There are many scenic picnic spots around the lake and so please bring your lunch and camera.  After the hike, we will pay short visit to the Bowen Island community, visiting local shops,before catching the next ferry back to Horseshoe Bay.
 
When: Sunday, July 17th
Meet up Location: In front of the Vancouver Tourism Centre 200 Burrard Street~10:00 am (Corner of Burrard St. and West Cordova).
Maximum # of Participants: 8
 
About the Hike:
Duration of the Hike: ~ 2 hours
Difficulty Level: Easy
What to bring: Money for Ferry, Lunch / snacks,  and wear appropriate footwear (i.e. runners or hiking shoes).
 
Cost(s):
-$ 10.20 Ferry fee (round trip) from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Snug Cover (Bowen Island)
Mokuyokai Fees (note: this fee helps cover our insurance)
-Members: None
-JET Alumni Association: $5
-Non-Members: $10
 
Car Pooling
We will arrange car-pooling from Vancouver Tourism Info Centre. It works on a first come, first serve basis (i.e., if someone RSVPs and can drive 3 people, the first three people who signed up get a lift.) Please give your driver some money for gas and parking and their time ($5 to $8)
 
Drivers are usually in short supply, so if you can drive, it will be much appreciated.

This event is weather dependent. If there is heavy rain, it will be cancelled. If the event is cancelled, an email will go out to participants in the morning of the event.
