Hike to Joffre Lakes (near Pemberton) on Sunday, September 16th. Rating C3

See three beautiful emerald green alpine lakes in one hike! Join Mokuyokai as we hike to Joffre Lakes. We went two years ago and it is a fabulous hike - one of the best near Vancouver.
Hike Description
Steeply rising from Lower Joffre Lake, the glacier-laden peaks are visible from an easily accessible viewpoint 500 metres from the parking lot. As we carry on, the trail becomes a rough, rocky and steep hike through the Coast Mountain range. This is a magnificent area of jagged peaks, icefields, cold rushing streams and turquoise blue Lower, Middle and Upper Joffre lakes. All three are located along the trail and each more stunning than the last. Their striking, saturated blue colour is caused by "rockflour" - or glacial silt - that is suspended in the water and reflects green and blue wavelengths of sunlight. – from
Please note that this will be a long day; while the hike is about 6 hours return, Pemberton is past Whistler. There are some steep parts and we will clamber over rocks (see video below for what to expect). Only fit and prepared hikers should participate. Also, regardless of the weather in Vancouver, it will be cooler there - dress warmly!
